Center Valley, PA (April 13, 2019) - Sophomore
Zach Bowen scored four goals leading the DeSales University men's lacrosse team past FDU-Florham, 9-6, extending DSU's win streak to 13-straight and keeping the Bulldogs unbeaten in a MAC Freedom game on Saturday afternoon.

- The Bulldogs also take home the inaugural Schambach Cup given to the winner of the DeSales/FDU-Florham game each season in memory of the late Mike Schambach who spent time on each coaching staff before his passing in the Summer of 2018.
- DSU remains one of just two teams in NCAA Division III with an undefeated record, joining Salisbury University, who stayed unbeaten with a win in double overtime today.
How it Happened
- This game was a defensive battle throughout with DSU holding a narrow 3-2 lead after one half of play.
- The Devils' tied the game at three to start the third quarter before the Bulldogs finished the quarter scoring three straight goals to take a 6-3 lead after three quarters.
- Florham got within one (6-5) at the 6:40 mark of the fourth quarter before Bowen and senior Joe Neggia put the game away with three straight tallies to give the Bulldogs a 9-5 lead before the final tally was posted.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Z. Bowen led the way with four goals, while Neggia scored two.
- Freshman Tom Connors had one goal and two assists and junior Justin Monaghan had two helpers.
- Junior Matt Brown finished with a goal and an assist and freshman Kurtis King (1g) and freshman Sean Wiser (1a) rounded out the scoring.
- Junior Frank Krug continued his assault in transition with four caused turnovers and six ground balls.
- Sophomore Vince Maria also had four caused turnovers.
- Sophomore Colin Corrado dominated the face-off circle winning 13-of-14 and picking up 12 ground balls.
- Senior Matt Barry was solid in goal making 15 saves in between the pipes.
For the Foes
- Drew Bukowiec and John Belanger each had two goals in the loss.
- Adam Reifer had eight saves in the cage.
Inside the Box Score
- DeSales out-shot FDU-Florham, 41-29, and had a 32-28 edge in ground balls.
- DSU dominated face-offs winning 14-of-17.
- There were 19 penalties, 10 by DeSales and nine by the Devils leading to three man-up goals.
