Men's Lacrosse Rolls past King's, 19-4; Last Undefeated Team in Division III

Wilkes-Barre, PA (April 17, 2019) - Only one team remains undefeated across NCAA Division III after the DeSales University men's lacrosse team took down King's College, 19-4, in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 19, King's - 4
  • Records: DeSales (14-0, 5-0 MAC Freedom); King's (3-10, 1-4 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs clinch a spot in the MAC Freedom postseason but are still in search of the top seed and home field advantage with two wins in its last two MAC Freedom games.
  • DSU is now the last team standing in all of NCAA Division III with an unbeaten record after #1 Salisbury University lost to York College (PA) on Wednesday.
How it Happened
  • DeSales dominated this one from the very beginning scoring the game's first seven goals and led 12-2 at the halftime break.
  • The onslaught continued in the third quarter when the Bulldogs out-scored the Monarchs, 5-0, before posting the final 19-4 margin after each team scored twice in the fourth quarter.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Sophomore Zach Bowen led the scoring charge with six goals and two assists for eight points.
  • Freshman Tom Connors was once again masterful totaling one goal and six assists for seven points.
  • Senior Joe Neggia had five goals and one assist.  His 49 goals are now the second most in a single-season and he is now ranked second all-time in career goals with 126, 11 behind all-time leader Patrick Stringer.
  • Junior Justin Monaghan had two goals and one assist and junior Matt Brown had three goals.
  • Sophomore Rob Heaney had one goal and freshman Chase Yoder and junior Nick Bowen each had an assist.
  • Senior Brad Dender put the exclamation point on the win scoring his first career goal with just 14 seconds left.
  • Junior Frank Krug was once again dominant in the midfield totaling seven caused turnovers and 10 ground balls.
  • Sophomore Colin Corrado won 19-of-21 face-offs and had 11 ground balls.
  • Senior Matt Barry had nine saves and allowed just two goals in three quarters of play.
For the Foes
  • Gabe Vansuch had three goals for the Monarchs.
  • Matt Basile made 16 saves in goal for King's.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales out-shot King's, 46-35, and had a 42-35 edge in ground balls.
  • DSU won 21-of-27 face-offs.
  • Both teams had 21 turnovers.
