Softball Splits DH with FDU-Florham

Center Valley, PA (April 13, 2019) - The DeSales University softball team split a MAC Freedom doubleheader with FDU-Florham taking game one, 8-5, before dropping game two, 6-1 on Saturday afternoon at McGettigan Park.

Game One (W/8-5)
The Devils were out of the gates quick in this one scoring four times in the top of the first inning before DeSales rallied to get three back in the bottom half on a two-RBI double from sophomore Hallie Muffley.

DeSales continued to trail by a run into the fourth frame when the Bulldogs scored four times to take a 7-4 lead thanks to a two-run double from sophomore Reilly Kerr and a two-run homer from Muffley.

The Bulldogs added another run in the fifth.

Freshman Heather Hall earned the win pitching seven strong allowing just one earned run, striking out two.

Kerr scored twice, Muffley knocked in four runs, and junior Erin Redden had two runs scored to lead the offense.

Game Two (L/1-6)
A scoreless game into the fourth inning was broken open by the Devils scoring four times in the fourth and twice in the fifth.

DSU rallied in the bottom of the seventh scoring once and loading the bases with two outs before senior Leann Panconi flew out to deep centerfield to end the game.

Kerr and Redden each had two hits including the 100th of her career for Redden.

Sophomore Julia Testagrose took the loss allowing four runs over three innings pitched.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Monday when they host Elizabethtown College for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 3:00 pm.
