Center Valley, PA (April 27, 2019) - The DeSales University baseball team split a MAC Freedom doubleheader with Manhattanville College dropping game one, 8-1, before winning game two, 11-3, at Weiland Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs sit as the #2 seed and in second place in the MAC Freedom standings with one game left vs. the Valiants tomorrow. The winner of tomorrow's game will be the #2 seed and the loser will be the #3 seed in next weekend's MAC Freedom postseason tournament at Owl's Field.
Game One (L/1-8)
DSU took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning in game one before the Valiants scored three times in the third and in three of the final four innings to post the 8-1 margin.
DeSales had just six hits, including a 3-for-3 effort from juniorÂ
Alex Condello in the opener.
FreshmanÂ
JJ Paul took the loss allowing six runs over four innings, striking out five.
Game Two (W/11-3)
DSU took a 6-0 lead thru two frames with two runs in the first inning including an RBI triple from freshmanÂ
Robby Lamm and tallied four in the second inning including RBI singles from freshmanÂ
Isaiah Goodman, sophomoreÂ
Cody Mish, and seniorÂ
Preston Amato.
MVC pulled to within four at 6-2 thru 3 and a half innings but a two-run double from Lamm in the fourth, and an RBI single from seniorÂ
Nick White and a two-RBI single from Mish in the fifth put the finishing touches on the game two victory.
FreshmanÂ
Will Manley earned the win with four strong innings allowing just two runs.
Mish finished 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBIs and Lamm was 2-for-2 with three RBIs. Goodman had two hits and scored twice, while seniorÂ
Charlie Barebo, Condello, and N. White each scored twice.
The Bulldogs will look to finish up the series tomorrow beginning at Noon.
