Balanced Attack Fuels Women's Lacrosse past Delaware Valley, 18-12

Doylestown, PA (April 6, 2019) - Seven different players scored leading the DeSales University women's lacrosse team past Delaware Valley University, 18-12, in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 18, Delaware Valley - 12

How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs started strong scoring the first three goals of the game before the Aggies had a streak of three straight mid-way thru the first half tying the game at four.
  • DeSales scored five of the last seven goals of the half to take a 9-6 lead.
  • The lead swelled to six (13-7) early in the second half and after the Aggies got to within four with 5:29 to go, DSU scored the final two markers to put the game away.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Sophomore Eilis McCall led DSU with four goals and two assists for six points and fellow sophomore Julia Astram added four goals and one assist for five points.
  • Junior Alyssa Mantzouranis finished with three goals and an assist and freshman Azlin Myers had two goals and two assists, while also adding five draw controls.
  • Sophomore Katie Stordy had two goals, one assist, five ground balls, and four draw controls, becoming DSU's all-time leader in ground balls with 102.
  • Freshman Karlie Deeck had two goals and an assist and freshman Sydney MacDonough added a goal in the win.
  • Graduate Student Annabella Stigliano had eight ground balls and three caused turnovers.
  • Sophomore Rachel Sheubrooks made seven saves and senior Lori King was outstanding late making six saves.
For the Foes
  • Claire Gamache led all scorers with six goals and Sabrina Butler finished with two goals and one assist.
  • Amanda Dietrich added 13 saves in goal.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales had a 37-34 lead in shots and a 25-21 edge in ground balls.
  • DVU won 16-of-30 draw controls.
  • The Bulldogs were 25-for-30 in clear attempts.
