Center Valley, PA (April 6, 2019) - The DeSales University softball team handed Misericordia University its first two MAC Freedom losses of the season with wins by 6-5 and 13-8 on Saturday afternoon at McGettigan Park.
Game One (W/6-5)
The Bulldogs trailed the entire game until DSU scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to take a 6-5 lead and held on in the seventh stranding a runner at third base with less than two outs.
Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the fourth inning, DeSales got three runs back on a two-RBI single from sophomoreÂ
Aubree Fritzinger and a bases loaded walk from sophomoreÂ
Reilly Kerr.
The Cougars added one in the top of the sixth inning but DSU got an RBI double from seniorÂ
Leann Panconi to start the sixth and took the lead for good on a two-run home run from Kerr.

Julia Testagrose earned the win, pitching to just two batters. FreshmanÂ
Heather Hall, who started the game, re-entered in the seventh to earn her second save of the year.
JuniorÂ
Erin Redden was 3-for-3 in game one with a run scored. Fritzinger, freshmanÂ
Delaney Smith and Panconi each had two hits.
Game Two (W/13-8)
DeSales took control early in game two scoring seven runs in the bottom of the first inning taking advantage of a few Cougar errors. MU got five of those runs back in the third but DeSales just kept scoring with three runs in the bottom half of the third, one in the fourth, and two more in the sixth to squander any Misericordia comeback attempt.

Shannon Hill earned the win in relief pitching two scoreless innings.
Fritzinger had two more hits and two runs scored. Panconi, seniorÂ
Carly Benjamin, sophomore
Sam Napoli, and sophomoreÂ
Caitlyn Newsom also had two hits with Newsom scoring twice and knocking in two runs. Smith was outstanding on the day going 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBIs.
The Bulldogs are right back to action tomorrow when they host Lebanon Valley College in a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 1:00 pm.
