Center Valley, PA (April 8, 2019) - The DeSales University baseball broke the record for longest game in team history playing 16 innings on Monday evening ending in an 8-7 win over Montclair State University at Weiland Park.
The previous record was a 15-inning game between the Bulldogs and King's College back in 2006 in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament.
The game was tied at seven after the Red Hawks (10-13) scored twice in the top of the ninth and DSU answered with one run in the bottom of the ninth to send the game into extra innings.
It was all zeros into the 16th inning, which was going to be the last inning regardless because the lights needed to go out by 11 PM.

Frank Licari Jr. led off the 16th inning with a deep fly ball to right field that was dropped as Licari Jr., scampered to third base. After a walk to seniorÂ

Cody Mish drew a four pitch walk to force the game-winning run home.

Felix Martinez Jr. earned the win pitching seven scoreless innings in relief allowing just five hits and striking out four.

Sergio Diaz had three hits and three RBIs and seniorÂ
Preston Amato also had three hits in the win.
Both team combined to throw 538 pitches with 12 different pitchers seeing action on the hill.
