Wilkes-Barre, PA (January 15, 2020) - Four players scored in double digits led by sophomore
Samantha Shinkus with a game-high 17 points leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past Wilkes University, 70-55, in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening at the Marts Center.

- The win is the 45th straight for the Bulldogs over Wilkes in the all-time series.
How it Happened
- Wilkes was the aggressor early opening up an 8-2 lead over the first 4:11 and led by five (17-12) after one quarter of play.
- The second quarter was all Bulldogs as DSU held the Colonels to just four points in the quarter and finished the half on an 11-0 run to take a 33-21 lead into the locker room.
- The lead grew to as many as 15 points a few times in the third quarter before Wilkes hit four 3's over the final five minutes to pull within eight at one point before sophomore Rylie Rittenhouse hit a three to push the lead back up to 11 at the end of the quarter.
- DSU led by 13 (56-43) when the Colonels used an 8-1 run to pull within six (57-51) with 5:20 left to play.
- DeSales took control from there scoring six straight points to go up 12 (63-51) and finished the final five minutes on a 13-4 run to earn the win.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Shinkus led all scorers with 17 points and added six rebounds and five assists.
- Sophomore Averi Jordan recorded her fourth double-double of the season with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
- Rittenhouse added a career-high 15 points and pulled down seven boards off the bench.
- Freshman Megan Bealer had a season-high 11 points also off the bench
For the Foes
- Maddie Kelley recorded a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds.
- Gianna Roberts also reached double figures with 14 points.
Inside the Box Score
- DSU's bench out-scored Wilkes, 26-9, in the game.
- Wilkes shot 8-for-17 (47.1%) from outside the arc.
- The Bulldogs scored 28 points off 22 Colonels turnovers in the win.
