Women's Hoops Hits Century Mark in 102-48 Win over Delaware Valley

Center Valley, PA (January 18, 2020) - Six players scored in double digits leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past Delaware Valley University, 102-48, in MAC Freedom action on a snowy Saturday afternoon.

The Basics

How it Happened
  • DeSales struggled with its shot in the first quarter hitting just 27.3 percent but held the Aggies to just 16.7 percent shooting opening up a 15-8 lead.
  • The Bulldogs shooting woes ended in the second quarter as they hit 12-for-19 (63.2%) from the field and scored 34 points, out-scoring DVU, 34-12, to take a 49-20 advantage into the halftime locker room.
  • The second-half was all DSU shooting 21-for-40 (52.5%) over the final 20 minutes to run away with the win.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Junior Isabel Caruso led six players in double digits with 13 points off the bench and added four steals.
  • Sophomore Averi Jordan, freshman Megan Bealer, sophomore Rylie Rittenhouse, and junior Kristina Polak all added 12 points.
  • Senior Molly Jansco had 10 points to round out the double digit scoring.
  • Jordan led DSU with seven rebounds, while freshman Marie Newsome had a game-high eight assists.
  • Sophomore Samantha Shinkus finished with seven points, six assists, and four steals and fellow sophomore Emma Stanfield had nine points.
For the Foes
  • Delaware Valley got 17 points from Shayne Glenn.
  • Sarah Wills added 12 points, going a perfect 4-for-4 from outside the arc.
Inside the Box Score
  • DSU shot 48.1 percent from the field for the game, while the Aggies hit just 29.6 percent.
  • The Bulldogs forced 28 turnovers, leading to 35 points and committed just nine miscues themselves.
