Men's Basketball Pulls Away in 72-55 Win over Misericordia

Center Valley, PA (January 25, 2020) - The DeSales University men's basketball team used a 16-0 run to finish the first-half and start the second-half en route to a 72-55 win over Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

  • Records: DeSales (12-5, 6-1 MAC Freedom); Misericordia (6-11, 2-4 MAC Freedom)
  • The win moves DSU into a first-place tie with Eastern University, who defeated Stevens on Saturday, with the Bulldogs traveling to Eastern on Wednesday with the winner claiming first place thru the first-half of the conference schedule.
How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs were out of the gates quickly opening up an 8-2 lead thru the first four minutes.
  • The Cougars chipped away at the lead and took its first advantage of the game at the 9:28 mark (17-15).
  • Misericordia still led by two at the 5:40 mark of the opening half when DSU finished the first-half on a 14-0 run to take a 33-21 halftime lead.
  • Senior Ben Pratt scored the first five points of the spurt.
  • The run extended to 16-0 when senior Kweku Dawson-Amoah scored the first basket of the second-half.
  • The lead was 11 at the 16:48 mark when the Bulldogs scored eight straight points to take a 46-27 lead and DSU never looked back from there.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Five players scored in double digits led by Dawson-Amoah with 13 points.
  • Pratt finished with 11 points and six assists.
  • Junior Timmy Edwards, sophomore Keba Mitchell, and sophomore Dat Lambert all had 10 points off the bench.
For the Foes
  • Nick Prociak led the Cougars off the bench with nine points.

  • The Bulldogs shot 49.2 percent from the field and held MU to just 36.1 percent shooting from the field.
