Men's Basketball Falls at Eastern, 71-68

St. David's, PA (January 29, 2020) - Eastern University used a 13-1 run midway thru the second half leading to a 71-68 win over the DeSales University men's basketball team on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: Eastern - 71, DeSales - 68

How it Happened
  • A tight game early saw DeSales finish the first half on a 17-8 run to take a 38-30 lead into the locker room as junior Timmy Edwards and senior Kweku Dawson-Amoah led the way with 19 of DSU's 38 points.
  • Eastern opened the second-half on a 12-2 run to take a 42-40 lead.
  • The game was tied at 45 when the Bulldogs used an 11-2 run to take a 56-47 lead and continued to lead by nine with 8:39 left.
  • EU then used a 13-1 run over the next 3:27 to take a 62-59 lead with 5:12 left as Draig Ruff scored nine of Eastern's 13 points.
  • It was a two-point game after a layup from senior Ben Pratt with 1:26 left before EU hit one free throw making it a three-point game with 41 seconds left.
  • DSU was fouled on the ensuing possession and Pratt knocked down both free throws to make it 69-68 with 16 seconds left.
  • The Eagles got the ball over halfcourt and hit both free throws to make it a 3-point game and out of a time a three from Pratt at the top of the key was short as time expired before a second attempt could get off.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Edwards recorded his third double-double of the season with 18 points and 11 rebounds.
  • Pratt finished with 14 points and sophomore Dat Lambert added 10 points off the bench.
  • Dawson-Amoah had 11 points.
For the Foes
  • Ruff finished with a game-high 21 points and added five assists.
  • William Blet added 11 points and eight boards and Michael Bowlers had 10 points.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales shot just 28.0 percent from the field in the second-half and 39.0 percent for the game.
  • Eastern won the battle on the glass, 39-37.
