Tracy Simsick led all scorers with 25 points, including the 1,000th of his career, leading a big second-half as the DeSales University men's basketball team past FDU-Florham, 78-64, in the MAC Freedom opener for both teams on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

- Simsick became the 28th player in team history to score 1,000 career points, reaching the milestone with 32 seconds left in the game.
How it Happened
- Tied at 12 early, DSU scored five straight points to take a 17-12 lead and continued to lead by three (29-26) late in the first-half on a three from sophomore Dat Lambert.
- The Devils finished the half strong using a 10-2 run to take a 36-31 lead into the locker room.
- The second-half started as both teams traded baskets before Simsick scored five straight to give DSU its first-half second-half lead (48-47) with 13:48 left.
- FDU-Florham reclaimed the lead on the next possession before a 9-2 run led by five points from Lambert put the Bulldogs up five (57-52) at the 9:28 mark.
- The lead was extended to eight points on back-to-back layups from senior Kweku Dawson-Amoah and the Bulldogs put the contest out of reach with a 9-0 run at the 5:02 mark with Simsick scoring five points and junior Timmy Edwards adding the other four.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Simsick, playing in his first game since Dec. 16th because of a leg injury, scored 25 points off the bench on 11-of-15 shooting and added four assists.
- Edwards was the only other double digit scorer for the Bulldogs, adding 10 tallies also off the bench and grabbing nine rebounds.
- Lambert, Dawson-Amoah, senior Ben Pratt, and senior Alex House all had eight points in the win.
- Pratt added a game-high eight assists.
For the Foes
- Andy Fleurantin finished with 18 points and five helpers.
- Oliver Ortman had 16 points and Kenneth LaRocca added 15 points in the loss.
Inside the Box Score
- DSU shot 54.8 percent from the field, including hitting 21-of-33 (63.6%) in the second-half.
- The Bulldogs dominated the paint out-scoring FDU, 52-18, and out-rebounding the Devils, 41-23.
- FDU scored 18 points off DeSales' 12 turnovers.
