Late Run Pushes Men's Basketball past Misericordia, 70-62

Dallas, PA (February 15, 2020) - The DeSales University men's basketball team finished the game on a 10-2 run earning a 70-62 win at Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon at the Anderson Center.

The Basics

  • The win moves DeSales into a tie for second place with Eastern University in conference standings, one game behind Stevens, with two games left in the regular season.
How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs started quickly opening up a 9-2 lead early as junior Timmy Edwards scored seven of DSU's nine points, including his first three of the season.
  • The Cougars answered with a 15-4 run to take a 17-13 lead on a corner three from senior Noah Rivera.
  • MU led by seven late when DeSales scored the final four points to trail by just three (40-37) at the break.
  • The second-half started back-and-forth before Misericordia opened up a six-point lead (53-47) at the 11:31 mark.
  • A triple from senior Ben Pratt started a 7-0 run that gave DSU a one-point cushion as both teams traded baskets over the next several minutes.
  • The game was tied at 60 with 5:16 remaining when the Bulldogs took control scoring the next eight points on a 3 from Pratt, short jumper from Edwards, and a dagger three from senior Tracy Simsick at the 3:46 mark.
  • The Bulldogs held MU to two points over the final 5:16 and to just 21.2 percent shooting in the second-half icing the big road win.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • The trio of Pratt, senior Kweku Dawson-Amoah, and Edwards combined for 58 of DSU's 70 points.
  • Edwards recorded his sixth double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
  • Pratt added 19 points and handed out five helpers.
  • Dawson-Amoah equaled Pratt's 19 and pulled down five rebounds.
For the Foes
  • Rivera finished with a double-double totaling 22 points and 16 rebounds as the lone double digit scorer for the Cougars.
Inside the Box Score
  • DSU shot 50 percent from the field in both halves and was an efficient 6-for-13 (46.2%) from outside the arc.
  • The Bulldogs did a terrific job on the defensive end in the second-half holding MU to just 21.2 percent shooting over the final 20 minutes.
