Center Valley, PA (February 18, 2020) - Eastern University shot 59.6 percent from the field defeating the DeSales University men's basketball team, 80-71, in MAC Freedom action on Tuesday evening in Billera Hall.

The Basics

• Final Score: Eastern - 80, DeSales - 71
• Records: DeSales (16-8, 9-4 MAC Freedom); Eastern (15-9, 10-3 MAC Freedom)
• The Bulldogs are now locked into the third slot for the MAC Freedom postseason tournament.  Pending Saturday's results across the league, DSU will either travel to Eastern or Stevens for the semifinals to open postseason play and defense of their 2019 MAC Freedom Championship.

How it Happened

• Eastern started strong opening up a 21-10 lead at the 10:48 mark of the first-half when DeSales answered with a 14-0 run thanks in part to two 3's from freshman Jordan Holmqvist and six points from junior Timmy Edwards to take a 24-21 lead.
• DSU led by two late when senior Alex House hit a three and senior Ben Pratt finished in the lane to give the Bulldogs their largest first-half lead (41-34) and DeSales entered the locker room up four (43-39).
• The Eagles scored the first four points of the second-half to quickly tie the game and the game remained tied at 59 with 9:19 left to play.
• EU's Terron Bacon then hit three 3's in the span of 2:45 igniting a 13-6 run giving Eastern a 72-65 lead with 6:20 to go.
• The Bulldogs cut the margin down to five points and had several possessions to get within one score but were unable to complete the comeback as the Eagles hit 5-for-6 from the free throw line over the final 58 seconds to ice the win.

Top Bulldog Performers

• Sophomore Dat Lambert was terrific off the bench scoring a team-high 17 points.
• Edwards had 10 points, all of which came in the first-half, as he did not play in the second half because of a leg injury.
• Senior Kweku Dawson-Amoah pulled down a game-high 10 rebounds.

For the Foes

• Eastern saw five players score in double digits led by Michael Bowlers with 18 points.
• Draig Ruff finished with 17 points and Bacon had 13 off the bench.
• Victor Pena had 10 points and William Blet finished with 11.

Inside the Box Score

• Eastern shot 59.6 percent from the field and hit 7-of-14 from outside the arc.
• DSU was just 11-for-33 in the second half (33.3%) and 9-for-29 from three-point area.
• DeSales did out-rebound Eastern, 38-30, including 19 offensive rebounds leading to 23 second chance points.
