Baseball Drops Two at Bridgewater, 8-5 and 7-4

Bridgewater, VA (February 23, 2020) - The DeSales University baseball team dropped both ends of a non-conference doubleheader on Sunday at Bridgewater College by scores of 8-5 and 7-4.

Game One (L/5-8)
The Bulldogs were in complete control of this one thru four and a half innings leading 5-0 before BC scored twice in the fifth and six times in the sixth to steal the game one win.

DSU got on the board in the first on an RBI single from senior Michael White, got two runs in the third on a two-run home run from senior Sergio Diaz, got RBI singles from junior Cody Mish and junior Sean Hanczaryk in the fourth.

Hanczaryk and Diaz each had two hits to lead a nine hit attack.  Freshman Ryan Rieber suffered the loss allowing two runs over 1/3 of an inning in relief of junior Ian Kacergis who allowed five runs over five plus innings.

Game Two (L/4-7)
DeSales was quick out of the gates in this one once again building a lead scoring four times in the top of the first inning on an RBI triple from Mish, RBI single from Diaz, and bases loaded walks from sophomore Dillon Drew and freshman Colin Trembley.

The defense was unable to hold the lead however as BC scored three times in both the first and third innings.

DSU threatened again in the sixth loading the bases with no one out but failed to push any runs across.

Sophomore Robby Lamm, Mish, Diaz, and senior Frank Licari Jr. all had two hits in the loss.

Freshman Michael Pierce took loss allowing three runs over 1 2/3 innings in relief.  Freshman Tom Berg III pitched well in relief tossing 2 2/3 scoreless innings.

The Bulldogs are back to action Sunday when they travel to The University of Scranton for a doubleheader with Scranton and Keystone College.
