Softball Takes Two on Day One of Spring Trip to Florida

Minneola, FL (March 8, 2020) - The DeSales University softball team opened up its trip to sunny Florida taking two games on day one of the trip with wins over PSU-Altoona and Gordon on Sunday evening.

Game One (W/3-2 vs. PSU-Altoona)
DSU took a 2-0 lead in the first inning taking advantage of two hit batters and one Altoona error.

PSU-Altoona tied the game at two with one run in both fifth and sixth innings but earned the win in walk-off fashion in the seventh when junior Reilly Kerr drove home the game-winner with a bases loaded fielders' choice.

Sophomore Heather Hall earned the win pitching three innings of relief allowing three hits and a run.  Senior Erin Redden finished with two hits.

Game Two (W/11-0 vs. Gordon)
Senior Shannon Hill pitched her second complete-game shutout of the year tossing five scoreless innings allowing four hits and striking out three to improve to 2-0.

The offense did the rest scoring twice in the first on a two-RBI double from senior Alexa Marasheski and once in the second to take a 3-0 lead.

DSU broke the game open in the fourth scoring eight times as Kerr, junior Hallie Muffley, Marasheski, freshman Olivia Ondrejca, junior Kristen Suran, and sophomore Caitlyn Newsom all had RBIs in the big inning.

Redden finished 2-for-3 with two runs scored, Marasheski had two hits and three RBIs, Muffley scored twice, and Suran and Ondrejca each had two hits.
