Colorado Springs, CO (October 16, 2021) - The DeSales University volleyball team dropped both its matches on day two of the Pikes Peak Challenge at Colorado College to two nationally ranked teams on Saturday afternoon.
Match #1 (L/1-3 vs. #20 UC-Santa Cruz)
After falling behind 2-0, DSU rallied to force a fourth set but saw UC-Santa Cruz pull away mid-way thru the fourth set to earn the win.
After hitting negative in the first two sets, DSU did a much better job in sets three and four hitting .344 in the third set and .214 in the fourth.

Mykenah Calder led the charge with eight kills and three blocks. SophomoreÂ
Shannon McDevitt had seven kills and five blocks. JuniorÂ
McKenzie Brady led the defense with 11 digs and sophomoreÂ
Grace Grandinetti added 18 assists.
Match #2 (L/0-3 vs. #7 Colorado College)
Colorado College recorded nine team blocks in the three set match forcing DSU into .053 hitting percentage in the win.
Calder once again led the way with nine kills, while McDevitt had six kills and hit .500, adding two blocks. Calder also had a team-high 14 digs.
Grandinetti had a double-double with 15 assists and 10 digs.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday evening when they travel to Wilkes University for a MAC Freedom match beginning at 7:00 pm.
