Early Deficit Too Much for Field Hockey in 4-2 Loss at Stevens

Hoboken, NJ (October 2, 2021) - The DeSales University field hockey team was unable to overcome an early deficit dropping its fourth straight, 4-2, at Stevens in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.

  • Stevens stormed out of the gates scoring on a penalty stroke just 3:32 into the game and taking a 2-0 lead 5:17 into the game.
  • The Ducks added a third goal with 1:26 left in the opening quarter and held that lead throughout the first-half.
  • Stevens added a fourth 3:49 into the second-half.
  • DeSales scored two goals late with 7:28 left and 1:18 remaining in the game.

  • Junior Ashlee Jopp scored DSU's first goal on a shot off a pass on a corner by sophomore Abbe Tarczynski.
  • Sophomore Maddie Trocki scored her seventh of the year tipping home a shot from junior Tyra Wingle late in the fourth quarter.
  • Sophomore Kayla Yeatman made 10 saves in her first career start in goal for the Bulldogs.

  • Aryana Muscara had two goals to lead the Ducks.
  • Alyssa Appleby scored once and had an assist.
