Montclair, NJ (November 13, 2021) - Five players scored in double digits leading the DeSales University men's basketball team past Montclair State University, 79-67, in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
- The Red Hawks led early taking a 7-2 lead and 16-11 advantage just under 10 minutes into the game.
- DeSales used a 10-0 run to take its second lead of the game and a five-point lead (21-16) ignited by a three-point play from sophomore Mason Barnes and capped off by five straight points from senior Matt Kachelries.
- The lead grew to 11 points after a 9-0 spurt later in the first-half featuring five points from sophomore Christian Guldin as the Bulldogs went to the locker room up eight (38-30).
- A back-and-forth start to the second-half saw DSU leading by seven (41-34) before the Bulldogs took control with a 13-0 run that included 3's from Guldin and senior Dat Lambert to take a 54-34 lead with 13:25 left.
- The lead reached 22 points once and never fell below 15 before the final moments of the game as DeSales cruised to its third straight win to open the season.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Sophomore Elijah Eberly recorded his first career double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds.
- Senior Mike Bealer came off the bench to score 12 points and pulled down six rebounds.
- Kachelries, Barnes, and junior Jordan Holmqvist all had 10 points in the win with Kachelries and Barnes each handing out four assists.
For the Foes
- Steven Breeman led all scorers with 20 points.
- Devin Cooper finished with 12 points and Irving Callender IV had 11 tallies.
Inside the Box Score
- DeSales hit 9 3's and held MSU to just 6-for-29 (20.7 percent) from outside the arc.
- DSU committed a season-low 11 turnovers and out-rebounded the Red Hawks, 41-39.
