Jordan Holmqvist scored a career-high 23 points leading the DeSales University men's basketball team past Hood College, 78-74, in the season opener for the Bulldogs on Monday evening.

How it Happened
- Hood was quick out of the gates opening up a 19-11 lead hitting four three-pointers in the first 6:28.
- The Bulldogs used a 14-3 run mid-way thru the half to take a 30-27 lead led by seven points from sophomore Mason Barnes.
- The Blazers reclaimed their eight-point advantage with 2:43 left in the opening half before the Bulldogs closed the half scoring seven straight points to trail by one point (40-39).
- The second-half started with the two teams trading baskets before DeSales took complete control using a 24-1 run to take a 65-43 lead with 9:45 left in the game.
- Sophomore Elijah Eberly had eight points during the spurt and Holmqvist hit two 3's.
- The lead remained 19 at the 5:28 mark when Hood scored 16 straight points to get within three points (75-72) with 45 ticks left.
- Eberly knocked down two free throws on DSU's next possession and after a defensive stop on the other end, sophomore Ryan Boylan hit 1-of-2 freebies to put the game out of reach.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Holmqvist hit 7 3's, scoring 17 of his career-high 23 points in the first-half.
- Eberly added 19 points and pulled down eight rebounds.
- Senior Dat Lambert finished with 12 points and Barnes added 10 off the bench.
- Boylan equaled Eberly with eight caroms and senior Matt Kachelries had a team-high five assists.
For the Foes
- Mason and Evan Wang each scored 17 points to lead Hood.
