Wilkes-Barre, PA (December 1, 2021) - Senior 
Averi Jordan became the 25th player in team history to score 1,000 career points leading the DeSales University women's basketball team past Wilkes University, 90-42, in the MAC Freedom opener on Wednesday evening.

	- The Bulldogs have now won 49 straight games over the Colonels and are 50-2 all-time vs. Wilkes.
 
How it Happened
	- Jordan got things started early hitting two 3's in the first 4:24 to help DSU take a 10-4 lead early and the Bulldogs led by 15 (24-9) after one quarter of play.
 
	- The lead swelled to as many as 23 points twice in the second quarter before a 45-23 halftime score with sophomore Lindsey Welsh leading the way with 10 points.
 
	- DeSales never looked back in the second-half, opening up a 40-point lead late in the third quarter and cruising to the final tally in the fourth.
 
Top Bulldog Performers
	- Jordan now has exactly 1,000 career points, totaling 16 on Wednesday on 5-of-10 shooting.
 
	- Welsh finished with a career-high 18 points and added a career-high eight rebounds.
 
	- Sophomore Amelia Saunders finished with 13 points off the bench.
 
	- Junior Megan Bealer added nine tallies and junior Maria Newsome finished with eight points and five assists.
 
	- First-year Kelsey Gemmill had a season-high nine points off the bench.
 
For the Foes
	- Brianna Horton and Kendra Smith each had seven points to lead the Colonels.
 
Inside the Box Score
	- DeSales shot a very efficient 52.6 percent from the field and 85.2 percent (23-for-27) from the free throw line.
 
	- The Bulldogs dominated the paint out-rebounding Wilkes, 41-22, and out-scoring the Colonels, 42-12, in the lane.
 
	- DSU committed a season-high 23 turnovers but forced Wilkes into 35 miscues leading to 44 points.
