Another Big Night from Edwards Helps Men's Basketball Complete Sweep of Wilkes

Wilkes-Barre, PA (February 12, 2021) - Senior Timmy Edwards posted his first double-double of the season with 20 points and 13 rebounds helping the DeSales University men's basketball team complete the two-day sweep of Wilkes University to open the 2021 season.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 77; Wilkes - 43

  • This was DSU's fifth straight win over the Colonels in the all-time series.
How it Happened
  • DeSales never trailed in this one opening the game on an 11-1 run over the first 4:07.
  • Wilkes scored six straight points to close within four but a 10-2 run after that by the Bulldogs pushed the lead up to 12 points and DSU took its largest lead of the half on a lay-up from Edwards at the 4:52 mark (30-15).
  • DSU claimed a 13-point advantage at the break holding the Colonels to just 29.6 percent shooting over the first 20 minutes.
  • The lead never fell below double digits in the second-half, peaking at the 34-point final tally.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Edwards shot 8-for-12 from the field and added three steals.
  • Freshman Elijah Eberly and sophomore Jordan Holmqvist each came off the bench to score 11 points.
  • All eleven players in uniform reached the scoring column.
For the Foes
  • Drake Marshall was the lone double digit scorer for Wilkes, netting 12 points.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales once again shot better than 50 percent from the field hitting 26-for-52 and also topped the 50 percent mark from 3, canning 10-for-19 (52.6%).
  • DSU dominated the glass for the second straight night, out-rebounding Wilkes, 46-25, and holding a 32-8 scoring edge in the paint.
  • The Bulldogs defense held the Colonels to just 25.5 percent shooting for the game.
