Edwards Posts Another Double-Double; Men's Basketball Stays Unbeaten with 75-49 Win at FDU-Florham

Madison, NJ (February 29, 2021) - Senior Timmy Edwards recorded his second straight double-double with 21 points and 11 rebounds leading the DeSales University men's basketball team past FDU-Florham, 75-49, in MAC Freedom action on Friday evening at the Ferguson Recreation Center.

  • DeSales has now opened the season with three straight wins by an average of 34.7 points per game.
  • It was DSU's eighth straight win over the Devils.
How it Happened
  • DeSales jumped all over FDU to start scoring the first 11 points of the game (its largest run of the game) as Edwards scored the first eight points and sophomore Aidan Ellwood hit a 3.
  • The Devills rallied to within five points with eight of the next 10 points but back-to-back triples from sophomore Jordan Holmqvist and junior Dat Lambert pushed the lead back to 11.
  • It was a 13-point game with 3:47 left in the opening half before the Bulldogs closed the opening 20 minutes on a 9-2 run to take a 46-26 lead into the locker room.
  • FDU-Florham got within 16 once but never any closer before DeSales posted the final margin.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Edwards pulled down seven offensive rebounds among his game-high 11 and shot 9-for-16 from the field.
  • Freshman Elijah Eberly was equally efficient totaling 14 points and grabbing seven rebounds going a perfect 7-for-7 from the field in the win.
  • 10 of the 11 players in uniform reached the scoring column.
For the Foes
  • Oliver Ortman had a team-high 11 points and Shawn Summers Jr. finished with 10 off the bench.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs dominated the paint out-rebounding the Devils, 43-23, and holding a 26-12 advantage in points in the paint.
  • DSU also had 24 second chance points.
  • DeSales assisted on 20-of-30 made baskets and shot 48.4 percent from the field.
  • Florham was held to just 33.3 percent shooting and just 6-for-27 from outside the arc.
