Women's Basketball Completes Sweep of FDU-Florham, 90-34

Madison, NJ (February 20, 2021) - All eleven players in uniform scored and the DeSales University women's basketball team held FDU-Florham to just 25.0 percent shooting cruising to a 90-34 win on Saturday afternoon to complete the weekend sweep of the Devils in MAC Freedom action.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 90; FDU-Florham - 34

  • The win was DSU's sixth straight over the Devils in the all-time series.
  • The Bulldogs have opened the season with four straight wins by an average of 38.8 points per game.
How it Happened
  • It was another quick start as DSU scored the first 12 points of the game led by seven from junior Rylie Rittenhouse and really never looked back from there.
  • DSU held the Devils to just six points in each of the first two quarters to take a 37-12 lead into the halftime locker room.
  • The Bulldogs torched the nets in the third quarter hitting 56.3 percent from the field and scoring 31 points and were even better in the fourth converting 64.3 percent over the final 10 minutes.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Junior Averi Jordan tied all scorers with a game-high tying 18 points in just 18 minutes of action.
  • Rittenhouse added 14 points and pulled down six rebounds.
  • Freshman Amelia Saunders added 11 points and five assists off the bench.
  • Senior Isabel Caruso and freshman Olivia Scotti each had nine points and Scotti, along with fellow freshman Mikaela Reese, led DSU with eight rebounds.
  • Freshman Lindsey Welsh had five steals and sophomore Maria Newsome finished with five assists.
For the Foes
  • Jade-Dee Tolentino led the Devils with 18 points off the bench as the lone player in double figures.
Inside the Box Score
  • DeSales shot better than 50% from the field for the second straight game hitting 32-for-64, an even 50 percent.
  • DSU was also 8-for-15 from outside the arc.
  • The Bulldogs dominated the paint out-rebounding the Devils, 50-28, and holding a 40-22 scoring advantage in the lane.
  • DeSales forced 25 turnovers leading to 40 points and had a 22-3 edge in fast break points.
Up Next
  • The Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday when they host Arcadia University in Billera Hall at 7:00 pm.  The Knights entered the day undefeated as well at 3-0.
