Trembley's Single Helps Baseball Earn Walk-off Win in Game Two in DH with Misericordia

Center Valley, PA (March 13, 2021) - Sophomore Colin Trembley had two hits and two RBIs including a bases loaded walkoff single in the bottom of the 10th inning of game two helping the DeSales University baseball team earn a doubleheader split with Misericordia University in MAC Freedom action on an emotional Saturday afternoon at Weiland Park.

Game One
After two scoreless innings, MU scored three runs in the third, four in the fourth, and five in the fifth open up a 12-1 lead and never looked back.

Senior John Poccia suffered the loss allowing six earned over four innings, striking out three.  Senior Robert Lamm had one of DSU's four hits, a triple in the first inning.

Game Two
DSU had leads of 1-0 and 2-1 after two innings on an RBI ground out from senior Ethan Carmack and solo home run from sophomore Joe Grigas IV.

The Cougars got a run in the third and two more in the fourth to take a 4-2 lead, but DSU trimmed that down to a one run deficit on a solo homer from Trembley in the fifth.

The two teams exchanged runs in the eighth but with the Bulldogs down to their final out in the bottom of the ninth sophomore Thomas Carpenter was hit by a pitch.  After stealing second, Carpenter scored the tying run on an RBI single from Carmack sending the game into extra innings.

After stranding a leadoff base runner in the top of the 10th inning, junior Billy Scanlon doubled with one out to put the game-winning run on second base.  After an intentional walk to junior Trevor Leamer, sophomore Justus Darville drew another walk to load the bases with one out.  After a strike out, Trembley stepped to the plate and laced a ball into the right centerfield gap that dropped easily scoring the winning run.

Junior JJ Paul earned the win on the bump pitching three scoreless innings not allowing a hit.  Trembley had two hits and two RBIs in the game two win, while Leamer and Scanlon each also had two hits.  Carmack drove in two and Carpenter scored twice.

These two teams will battle once again tomorrow in another doubleheader set to beging at 1:00 pm.
