Softball Splits DH at FDU-Florham; Hall Tosses Gem in Game Two

Madison, NJ (March 14, 2021) - The DeSales University softball team split a doubleheader at FDU-Florham on a windy Sunday afternoon dropping game one, 6-4, before taking the second game, 4-1.

Game One
After the Devils scored once in each of the first three innings, DSU battled back and took a 4-3 lead in the top of the sixth.  The Bulldogs scored solo runs in the second on a solo home run from senior Reilly Kerr, in the third on an RBI single from Kerr, in the fourth on an RBI single from sophomore Lily Trexler, and in the sixth on an RBI groundout from sophomore Victorian Agnoli.

The Devils, however, put together a three-run rally in the bottom of the sixth to take a 6-4 lead and DeSales was unable to find the answer the top of the seventh.

Freshman Emma Laliberte took the loss allowing two runs over one inning pitched.  Senior Hallie Muffley, Kerr, and freshman Megan Burns all had two hits in game one.

Game Two
In the second game, junior Heather Hall pitched a complete-game allowing just seven hits and one unearned run, striking out three to earn her first win of the season.

DSU's runs came in the first inning on an RBI single from Muffley, two in second inning on back-to-back-to-back doubles from Trexler, Agnoli, and senior Kristen Suran, and in the seventh on a solo home run from Suran.

Angoli and Suran each finished with two hits on the afternoon in game two.

The Bulldogs are back in action next weekend when they take on King's College in a four-game MAC Freedom series on Saturday and Sunday.
