Ethan Carmack knocked in seven runs in game one senior
Sergio Diaz had four RBIs in game two leading the DeSales University baseball team to a doubleheader sweep of FDU-Florham by scores of 13-10 and 10-3 on Friday afternoon at Diamond Nation.
Game One
DeSales extended a 6-3 lead into a 10-3 lead on a grand slam from Carmack in the top of the seventh inning but the Devils refused to give in, scoring seven times in the bottom of the seventh inning to force extra innings.
After both teams went scoreless in the eighth, DSU plated three runs on a two-run shot from Carmack and squeeze bunt from sophomore
Colin Trembley and junior
Zac Vittorelli closed the door this time with a 1-2-3 ninth to earn his first save of the season in the 13-10 win.
Sophomore
Michael Pierce earned the win pitching 1 2/3 scoreless innings. Carmack finished 3-for-4 with three runs scored, two dingers, and seven RBIs. Senior
Hunter Spalt had a big three-run triple in the win and sophomore
Thomas Carpenter and junior
Trevor Leamer each scored twice.
Game Two
The Bulldogs plated seven runs in the top of the second inning and this time cruised on the defensive side in a 13-3 game two win. Diaz had a three-run double and Trembley followed with a two-run home run in the seven run second inning.
Sophomore
Ryan Rieber earned the win pitching five strong frames allowing three runs and striking out three. Freshman
Brandon Laino pitched two scoreless innings to close it out.
Carpenter, Carmack, Diaz, and junior
Dillon Drew each had two hits. Drew and freshman
Gavin Zavorski each scored twice.
