Pogonyi's Goal with 1.9 Seconds Left Lifts Women's Lacrosse Past Arcadia

Glenside, PA (March 20, 2021) - Sophomore Kelsey Pogonyi scored unassisted with 1.9 seconds left in regulation lifting the DeSales University women's lacrosse team past Arcadia University, 10-9, in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon helping the Bulldogs earn their first win of the season.

How it Happened
  • DeSales started the game strong scoring the first two goals, both by sophomore Tori Brennan, before Arcadia answered with four straight to take a 4-2 lead.
  • Junior Amanda Schultz scored two straight ending the Knight's run to tie the game at four before AU scored with 44 ticks left to take a 5-4 halftime lead.
  • The second-half was back-and-forth over the next 20 minutes with AU clinging to an 8-7 lead.
  • DSU got two straight goals from senior Eilis McCall giving the Bulldogs a 9-8 lead but the Knights tied the game with 1:24 to go setting up Pogonyi's game-winner with 1.9 seconds left to play.

  • McCall led DSU with three goals, while Schultz, Brennan, and Pogonyi each had two markers.
  • Junior Azlin Myers finished with one goal.
  • Sophomore Marina Bradley and senior Karlie Deeck each had an assist and each won three draw controls.
  • Senior Rachel Sheubrooks made 12 saves in goal.
