Center Valley, PA (April 17, 2021) - Sophomore
Ryan Rieber tossed eight innings allowing just two run and striking out 10 leading the DeSales University baseball team to a DH split with Wilkes University in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon.
Game One (L/4-9)
Wilkes took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on two-out double and extended the lead to 7-0 with five runs in the fourth inning.
Trailing 8-0 in the fifth inning the Bulldogs cut the margin in half with four runs in the bottom of the inning on two hits.
Wilkes got a ninth run in the top of the seventh and DSU went quietly in the final two innings.
Senior
John Poccia took the loss allowing eight runs over five innings, striking out four.
Game Two (W/4-2)
Rieber was outstanding in game two tossing eight strong innings allowing just three hits and two runs, striking out 10 to improve to 4-1 on the year. Freshman
Brandon Laino earned his first career save tossing a perfect ninth inning.
DSU scored three times in the fourth taking advantage of a Wilkes error that extended the inning and added an insurance run in the eighth on an RBI single from senior
Sergio Diaz.
