Wilkes-Barre, PA (April 18, 2021) - Senior
Ian Kacergis and sophomore
Tom Berg III each earned wins on Sunday afternoon as the DeSales University baseball team tossed two shutouts in a DH sweep of Wilkes University in MAC Freedom action.
Game One (W/5-0)
It was all Kacergis in this one as he allowed just five hits over seven innings, striking out four to record the shutout and improve to 4-0 on the season. He allowed just three runners to reach second base all game in the win.
DSU did most of its damage in the second inning scoring four times as sophomore
Colin Trembley hit the first of two home runs in the game, a three-run shot, that was followed by a solo shot in the fourth inning. Junior
Robert Lamm also went yard, a solo shot, in the fourth inning.
Trembley finished the game 3-for-4 with four RBIs and two runs scored, accounting for half of DSU's six hits.
Game Two (W/9-0)
Three pitchers combined to scatter 11 hits over nine innings in the game two shutout. Berg III improved to 2-0 going six strong allowing five hits and striking out three. Sophomore
Michael Pierce pitched two scoreless and junior
JJ Paul a scoreless ninth in the win.
DSU took a 2-0 lead in the first on a two-run home run from senior
Ethan Carmack. Carmack had another RBI as part of a three-run fifth that included RBI singles from freshman
Gavin Zavorski and Trembley to give the Bulldogs a 6-0 lead.
Senior
Sergio Diaz, Trembley, and freshman
Liam Kile each had RBIs in the ninth to post the final tally.
Sophomore
Thomas Carpenter was 2-for-5 with three runs scored, Carmack had two hits, two runs, and three RBIs, Zavorski had three hits and Trembley finished with two more hits, giving him five on the day.
