Center Valley, PA (April 24, 2021) - Senior
John Poccia tossed a six-hit shutout in game one leading the DeSales University baseball team to a DH split with Stevens Institute of Technology on Saturday afternoon.
Game One (W/7-0)
Poccia took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before a leadoff double ended those hopes but he did not allow a run and only three batters reached third base all game long. He finished with four walks and struck out eight in the win.
DSU scored in four of its six innings at the plate including two in the first that included a triple from sophomore
Thomas Carpenter and twice in the third on a two-RBI single from junior
Robert Lamm. The Bulldogs then scored unearned runs in the fourth and two more in the fifth to provide the final tally.
Freshman
Gavin Zavorski had two RBIs and sophomore
Colin Trembley stayed hot at the plate with two more hits and scored twice. Lamm finished with three RBIs in game one.
Game Two (L/8-15)
DSU jumped out early yet again in game two taking a 5-0 lead with four runs in the first inning RBIs from senior
Sergio Diaz, junior
Billy Scanlon, and Trembley and plated another run in the second on bases loaded hit by pitch from Scanlon.
The Ducks finally broke thru then in the third scoring seven times and led 10-8 after six innings before a five-run seventh inning put the game out of reach.
Sophomore
Justus Darville scored three times, while Zavorski, Scanlon, and Trembley each had two RBIs in game two.
Sophomore
Ryan Rieber took the loss allowing seven runs over 2 2/3 innings, striking out two.

DSU is back in action tomorrow when they face Stevens in games 3 and 4 of the weekend series with the new start time of 2:00 pm.
