Field Hockey Upset Bid Falls Just Short at #6 TCNJ, 4-3

Ewing, NJ (September 11, 2021) - The DeSales University field hockey team fell just short in its bid to upset #6 The College of New Jersey falling 4-3 in non-conference action on Saturday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: TCNJ - 4, DeSales - 3
  • Records: TCNJ (3-0); DeSales (2-2)
  • This was just the second career meeting between the two teams with TCNJ taking the first, 6-1, back in 2019.
How it Happened
  • TCNJ started the scoring just 2:58 into the game but the Bulldogs got that goal right back scoring at 9:41 to even the score.
  • The Lions had a 2-1 lead after one quarter but the Bulldogs scored the only goal of the second quarter to tie the game at the half.
  • TCNJ got back-to-back goals within a span of 1:55 early in the fourth quarter to take a 4-2 lead.
  • DSU pulled to within one with 3:29 left to play but were unable to find another tying marker as the upset bid fell just short.
