Women's Soccer Starts 5-0 for First Time in Team History with 2-1 Win over Montclair State

Center Valley, PA (September 15, 2021) - The DeSales University soccer team won its fifth straight game, 2-1, over Montclair State surpassing the mark for most wins to start a season on Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action.

  • The Bulldogs open a season 5-0 for the first time in team history.
  • DSU is now 2-0 all-time vs. the Red Hawks after a win back in 2019 as well.
How it Happened
  • DSU scored the only goal of the first-half 4:54 into the game when junior Meghan Foley scored on a shot that trickled thru MSU's GK's legs and into the goal.
  • The Bulldogs got a very important insurance goal in the 58th minute when junior Allie Trick scored her fifth goal of the season.
  • MSU got back within one on a goal in the 61st minute but the Bulldogs were able to hold off the Red Hawks the rest of the way to keep the win streak alive.

  • Zoe Steck scored the MSU goal and Tara Lambert added an assist.
  • Lindsay Freewalt had three saves in the first-half for the Red Hawks.
