Chester, PA (September 2, 2021) - Senior Gabby Torchia scored the game's lone goal on a free kick lifting the DeSales University women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over Neumann University in the 2021 season opener on Thursday afternoon.

• The game was DSU's first since the end of the 2019 season after the 2020 season was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

How it Happened

• Just under 20 minutes into the game, Torchia scored what turned out to be the lone goal of the game hitting a free kick from about 35 yards out just over the GK's out-stretched hand and into the net.

• The goal was Torchia's fifth of her career.
• Sophomore Jozlyn Minnema made three saves combining for the shutout with fellow sophomore Hannah Pacheco.
