Washington, D.C. (September 24, 2021) - The DeSales University volleyball team won its fourth straight match opening the Worthington Classic at Gallaudet University with a 3-1 win over Catholic University on Friday evening.

• Final Score: DeSales - 3, Catholic - 1 (25-14, 17-25, 25-19, 25-21)
• Records: DeSales (7-4 overall); Catholic (2-11 overall)
• It is DSU's third straight win over Catholic in the first meeting since the 2016 season.
• The Bulldogs are now 4-2 all-time vs. the Cardinals.

How it Happened

• The Bulldogs won easily in the first set, hitting .355 with 14 kills and just three hitting errors.
• DSU struggled in the second set, committing nine hitting errors and hitting just .028 to drop the set, 25-17.
• DeSales rebounded hitting .167 and .222 in the third and fourth sets to close out the match.

Top Bulldog Performers

• First-Year Mykenah Calder led the attack with 12 kills and had a double-double adding 12 digs.
• Sophomore Shannon McDevitt finished with 11 kills and four blocks, hitting .375.
• Junior Austen Brewer added nine kills and junior Caroline Garretson also finished with nine kills.
• Junior McKenzie Brady had 18 digs.
• Senior Audrey Wolfe finished with 22 assists and sophomore Grace Grandinetti added 19 assists and seven digs.

For the Foes

• Brittany Connatser had a match-high 15 kills and five blocks for the Cardinals.

• The Bulldogs hit .186 for the match and totaled six team blocks.
