Volleyball Outlasts Arcadia in Five; Improves to 3-0 in MAC Freedom

Center Valley, PA (September 28, 2021) - The DeSales University volleyball team battled past Arcadia University, 3-2, to stay unbeaten in MAC Freedom play on Tuesday evening in Billera Hall.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 3, Catholic - 2 (24-26, 25-14, 25-19, 17-25, 15-11)
  • Records: DeSales (9-5, 3-0 MAC Freedom); Arcadia (10-7, 3-2 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs snap a two-match losing streak to Arcadia and improve to 14-3 all-time vs. the Knights.
  • Head coach Michele Zabinski is now just three wins shy of earning win #300 in her career.
How it Happened
  • The first set featured seven ties and two lead changes as DSU led 24-21 before Arcadia scored the last six points of the set to steal a set one win.
  • It was all Bulldogs in sets two and three as Arcadia committed 15 hitting errors between the two sets as compared to just five for DeSales as the hosts took a 2-1 lead.
  • Arcadia was on fire in the fourth set, totaling 19 kills and hitting .375 to tie the match at two sets each.
  • The fifth set was tight throughout as DeSales clung to a 10-9 lead late in the set.
  • DSU scored five of the next seven points as sophomore Shannon McDevitt pounded down her 13th kill of the match to post the match clinching point.

  • Michelle Frank led the Knights with 28 kills and added 16 digs.
  • Grace Kraft had 29 digs.
  • Estefania Martinez-Sola finished with 51 assists and 17 digs.
