Center Valley, PA (September 8, 2021) - The DeSales University volleyball team opened MAC Freedom competition for the first time in two years on Wednesday earning a 3-1 (25-22, 19-25, 25-22, 25-15) win over Misericordia University in Billera Hall.

- It is DSU's 11th straight win over the Cougars as the Bulldogs improve to 22-1 all-time vs. Misericordia and 12-0 at home.
How it Happened
- DSU fell behind early in the first set, trailing 13-7, before coming out of a timeout battling back to out-score Misericordia, 18-9 the rest of the set to take a 1-0 lead.
- Misericordia took control of the second set mid-way thru to even the match as the Bulldogs hit negative in the second frame.
- The Cougars had their best hitting percentage of the match in the third set but committed five service errors and the Bulldogs earned another hard-fought 25-22 win to take a 2-1 lead.
- It was all Bulldogs in the fourth set racing out to a 10-2 lead and hitting .333 in the fourth set to easily close out the match, 25-15.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Junior Caroline Garretson led DSU with 11 kills, hitting .269 and added five blocks.
- Sophomore Shannon McDevitt had seven kills and no errors for a .412 hitting percentage and added three blocks.
- Senior Audrey Wolfe was outstanding with six kills and no errors, adding 34 assists and three blocks.
- Junior McKenzie Brady finished with 19 digs and junior Lauren Weir had six service aces and eight digs.
- Senior Georgia Traynor finished with 14 digs and first-year Mykenah Calder had 15 digs to go along with six kills.
- Junior Diane Pugay added nine kills and four blocks.
For the Foes
- Fiona Pyfer had 12 kills, while Lena Eldrenkamp finished with eight kills and seven blocks.
Inside the Box Score
- DeSales hit .133 for the match and had eight team blocks.
- DSU totaled 13 service aces and passed .905 on the Cougar serve.
