Center Valley, PA (January 26, 2022) - The DeSales University men's basketball team shot a season-low 25.9 percent from the field and Wilkes University hit a jumper with three seconds left as the Colonels upset the Bulldogs, 46-44, in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening in Billera Hall.

- The win snaps a six game winning streak for the Bulldogs in the series as the all-time series moves to 37-30 in favor of DeSales.
How it Happened
- DeSales was the aggressor early scoring the first four points of the game and taking a 10-6 lead at the 13:54 mark.
- Wilkes turned up the defensive dial over the next nine minutes holding DSU scoreless for 8:30 slowly using a 14-0 run to take a 20-10 lead.
- DSU ended the drought at the 5:04 mark and went into the locker room trailing by nine points (25-16).
- The Bulldogs continued to struggle hitting shots to start the second-half as Wilkes extended a seven point lead early in the half to a 15-point advantage with a quick 8-0 run (39-24) at the 10:42 mark.
- It was a 13-point game (41-38) with 9:29 to go when DeSales held the Colonels scoreless over the next 8:08 to crawl back in the game.
- Two free throws from senior Matt Kachelries got DSU within a point (41-40) with 1:45 remaining but a three-pointer from the corner by Trent Fisher ended the WU scoring drought and put the visitor's up four (44-40) with 1:21 left.
- Sophomore Mason Barnes hit one free throw on the other end and DeSales got a stop, calling timeout with just under 40 seconds left.
- Out of the timeout, Kachelries found senior Dat Lambert alone in the corner and he hit nothing but net on a tying three-pointer with 30 ticks left.
- Wilkes called timeout and out of the timeout set-up Drake Marshall for a 1-4 at the top of the key and hit a fall-away jumper from the top of the key giving Wilkes a 46-44 lead with three seconds left and a last second chance by the Bulldogs from beyond half court was off the mark as the buzzer sounded.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Lambert was the only Bulldog in double digits with 11 points, hitting three 3's.
- Sophomore Elijah Eberly finished with eight points and eight rebounds.
- Kachelries had seven points, six assists, and five steals in the loss.
For the Foes
- Fisher finished with a double-double totaling 19 points and 14 rebounds.
- Marshall had 13 points as Fisher and Marshall combined for 32 of Wilkes' 46 points.
Inside the Box Score
- Neither team shot well as DeSales shot a season-low 25.9 percent and Wilkes hit just 34.0 percent from the field.
- The Bulldogs won the rebound battle, 40-33.
