Field Hockey Stays Unbeaten in MAC Freedom with 2-1 Win at Misericordia

Dallas, PA (October 12, 2022) - The DeSales University field hockey team stayed unbeaten in the MAC Freedom after a 2-1 win at Misericordia University on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 2, Misericordia - 1
  • Records: DeSales (10-2, 5-0 MAC Freedom), Misericordia (4-8, 1-3 MAC Freedom)
  • It is DSU's sixth straight win this season, three shy of tying the team record.
  • It is DeSales' second ever win over the Cougars at Misericordia and improves the Bulldogs all-time mark to 6-10 in the all-time series.
  • The Bulldogs have now won 10 games on the season, the sixth time in program history DSU has won 10+ games in a season.
How it Happened
  • The scoring started late in the second quarter when senior Catie McGrath scored off a short pass from junior Maddie Trocki on a scramble in front of the cage off a corner feed.
  • MU tied the game just two minutes later making it a 1-1 game entering the half.
  • Trocki put the Bulldogs back on top mid-way thru the third quarter scoring on a reverse chip shot into the upper corner of the far post and that goal stood up as the game-winner.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • McGrath's goal is the fourth of the season and her 25th all-time moving her into seventh place all-time.
  • Trocki now has five goals on the year and a team-leading six assists.
  • Junior Kayla Yeatman was terrific in goal making seven saves including saving a penalty stroke early in the second quarter keeping the game scoreless.
For the Foes
  • Meghan Radnoff had MU's goal and Morgan Walsh added an assist.
  • Sarah Bogina made 14 saves in the cage.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs had a healthy 24-9 advantage in shots and a 16-8 advantage in shots on goal.
  • DSU took 13 penalty corners as compared to just five for the Cougars.
