Paige Lewis came off the bench to total seven blocks leading the DeSales University volleyball team past Hamilton College, 3-2, in the first match of three this weekend at home.
The Basics

- This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
How it Happened
- The start of the first set was back-and-forth as the Continentals clung to a 14-11 lead before scoring eight straight points to take a 22-11 lead and ultimately the set.
- The second and third sets were dominated by DeSales committing just five hitting errors over the two sets to take a 2-1 lead.
- In the fourth set, the Bulldogs committed eight hitting errors and Hamilton won easily, 25-12, forcing a fifth set.
- DeSales scored the first seven points of the fifth set and never really looked back from there to take the win.
Top Bulldog Performers
- Lewis didn't play in the first set but came in the second set and dominated at the net with seven blocks and six kills, hitting .429.
- First-year Abby Weise had 13 kills, 12 digs, and five blocks.
- Junior Shannon McDevitt finished with four kills and five blocks.
- Sophomore Mykenah Calder was outstanding on defense with 18 digs and added three service aces.
- Junior Grace Grandinetti and first-year Peyton Porterfield combined for 29 assists and four aces.
For the Foes
- Kate Carman had 12 kills and two blocks.
- Summer McClintic totaled nine kills and three aces.
Inside the Box Score
- The Bulldogs totaled 13 team blocks.
- DSU had just six hitting errors in the three sets they won, but committed 16 hitting errors in sets one and four.
