Center Valley, PA (October 29, 2022) - The DeSales University volleyball team split a tri-match defeating Neumann University before falling to Stockton University to wrap-up the regular season Scheduled on Saturday.
Match #1 (W/3-0 vs. Neumann - 25-23, 26-24, 25-13)
First-yearÂ
Abby Weise was near unstoppable in this one recording the fifth most kills in a three-set match in team history with 21, hitting .267 for the match.
Neumann led 9-3 early in the first set before DeSales clawed back to steal the first set. DSU overcame 10 hitting erors in the second set to once again rally alte with six of the last seven points and dominated the third set to close out the match.
SeniorÂ
Austen Brewer added six kills. Weise also had 11 digs and sophomoreÂ
Samanthan Worontzoff finished with three blocks.
JuniorÂ
Grace Grandinetti had 31 assists and three aces and seniorÂ
McKenzie Brady finished with 22 digs in the win.
Match #2 (L/1-3 vs. Stockton - 20-25, 20-25, 25-23, 23-25)
This match was neck and neck in all four sets featuring 19 ties and 12 lead changes with Stockton squeaking out the win in a battle of regional powers.
Weise once again led DeSales with 17 kills, but also commited 13 hitting errors and added 12 digs and four blocks.
Senior
Diane Pugay had 10 kills, Worontzoff finished with five blocks, and Brady had 19 digs in the loss.
Grandinetti totaled 32 assists and seven digs and Brewer finished with seven kills and three aces.
DeSales is right back to action on Monday when they host FDU-Florham in the MAC Freedom postseason quarterfinals in Billera Hall beginning at 7:00 pm.
