Madison, NJ (November 12, 2022) - The DeSales University women's soccer team scored two goals over the final 11 minutes including the game-winner with 37 seconds left to earn a win over Cabrini University, 3-2, advancing to the ECAC Championship game on Saturday afternoon.

  • Records: DeSales (13-6-2 overall); Cabrini (12-6-1 overall)

How it Happened
  • Cabrini scored first in the 7th minute of the game as a free kick seemed to take a strange bounce in front of junior Hannah Pacheco and sneak by her on her left side for the game's first goal.
  • DSU got that one back in the 17th minute when senior Sam Monteforte scored on a free kick from about 25 yards out that hit net inside the upper corner of the far post.
  • The game remained tied into the 66th minute the Cavaliers reclaimed a one goal lead on an own goal as ball over the top got past Pacheco and a Bulldog defender tried to clear it with a header that went into the net.
  • Sophomore Emma Riberio tied the game at 79:23 scoring on a loose ball in the box.
  • The game seemed destined for overtime before senior Katie Padgett found junior Holly McFarland along the right sideline all alone and she beat a charging keeper with 37 seconds left in the game giving DSU the win.
