Bethlehem, PA (December 30, 2022) - The 12th ranked DeSales University women's basketball team out-scored St. Joseph (CT), 24-11, in the third quarter en route to a 70-53 win in the opening game of the Moravian University tournament on Friday afternoon.
The Basics
	- Final Score: DeSales - 70, St. Joseph (CT) - 53
- Records: DeSales (11-0 overall); St. Joseph-CT (6-3 overall)
- This was the first-ever meeting between the two teams.
- It is the first 11-0 start to the season since the 2002-03 season when DeSales opened the year 14-0.
How it Happened
	- The Bulldogs never trailed in this one scoring the first six points of the game and taking a 16-4 lead out of the gates.
- St. Joseph (CT) hung around for the rest of the first-half as DSU took a nine-point lead into the halftime locker room.
- DeSales dominated the third quarter out-scoring the Blue Jays, 24-11, to lead 56-34 after three quarters of play.
- The lead grew to as large as 30 points (68-38) before St. Joseph finished the game strong cutting the margin down to 17 points at the final buzzer.
Top Bulldog Performers
	- Junior Mikaela Reese led all scorers with 18 points, going a perfect 10-for-10 from the charity stripe, and adding eight rebounds and three blocks.
- Senior Megan Bealer added 15 points, pulled down seven rebounds, and had four steals.
- Junior Lindsey Welsh was in double digits with 10 points and fellow junior Olivia Scotti had a team-high 10 rebounds.
- Junior Amelia Saunders came off the bench to score eight points.
For the Foes
	- Maya Slisz finished with 16 points to lead the Blue Jays.
- Jordan Ouellette added 10 points.
Inside the Box Score
	- The Bulldogs shot just 35 percent from the field but were terrific at the line hitting 26-for-34 (76.5 percent).
- DSU had 15 second chance points and out-rebounded St. Joseph, 46-34.
