Women's Basketball Stays Unbeaten with 82-18 Win over CCNY

Bethlehem, PA (December 31, 2022) - The 12th ranked DeSales University women's basketball team kept its unbeaten streak alive with an 82-18 win over CCNY on day two of the Moravian University Holiday Tournament on Saturday morning.

The Basics

  • Final Score: DeSales - 82, CCNY - 18
  • Records: DeSales (12-0 overall); CCNY (2-9 overall)
  • This was the second career meeting between the two teams with the other coming during the 1984-85 season as the Bulldogs move to 2-0 in the series.
  • It is the first 12-0 start to the season since the 2002-03 season when DeSales opened the year 14-0 overall.

How it Happened

  • DeSales dominated from the very start in this one jumping out to a 20-3 lead over the first seven minutes of the game.
  • The Bulldogs led 41-12 after two quarters of play and into the halftime locker room and never looked back in the second-half.

  • Only one player played more than 20 minutes in the game as junior Mikaela Reese finished with a team-high 14 points and added four steals.
  • Junior Lindsey Welsh tied Reese with 14 tallies, adding five assists and four steals.
  • Senior Megan Bealer earned All-Tournament honors, finishing with her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
  • First-year Sammi White had a strong game off the bench with nine points and eight rebounds.
