#11 DeSales Continues Streak With 72-30 Win at Lycoming

Williamsport, PA (January 4, 2023) - The 11th ranked DeSales University women's basketball team used a 25-0 run to finish the first quarter and start the second quarter highlighting a 72-30 win at Lycoming College in MAC Freedom action on Wednesday evening.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 72, Lycoming - 30
  • Records: DeSales (13-0, 5-0 MAC Freedom); Lycoming (4-9, 0-4 MAC Freedom)
  • The Bulldogs have won 46 straight MAC Freedom games including the postseason.
  • The Bulldogs are 26-3 all-time vs. the Warriors winning their 21st in a row in tonight's win.
  • It is the first 13-0 start to the season since the 2002-03 season when DeSales opened the year 14-0 overall.
How it Happened
  • Lycoming led early (7-2) before DeSales finished the first quarter with 19 straight points to lead 21-7 and scored the first six points of the second to take a 27-7 lead before entering the halftime locker room with a 37-15 advantage.
  • DSU cruised in the second-half out-scoring the Warriors by 10 in both the third and fourth quarters to post the final tally.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Four players were in double digits led by senior Megan Bealer with 15 points, adding five assists and four steals.
  • Junior Abigail Rafferty had 13 points and five rebounds off the bench.
  • Junior Mikaela Reese added 12 points and fellow junior Lindsey Welsh finished with 11 points and four dimes.
For the Foes
  • Emily Lockard had 10 points to lead the Warriors.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs shot 49.1 percent from the field and were outstanding from the line hitting 12-for-15 for an 80 percent clip.
  • The defense held LC to just 23.9 percent shooting and forced 30 turnovers.
  • DeSales had 42 of its 72 points in the paint and the bench out-scored the Warriors pine squad, 34-5.
