Salisbury, MD (February 19, 2022) - The DeSales University softball team opened its 2022 season splitting two games at Salisbury University on Saturday afternoon.
Game One (L/2-3 vs. Salisbury)
After falling behind 2-0 entering the fifth inning, DSU rallied for two runs in the top of the fifth taking advantage of a Seagull two-out error to tie the game. SU reclaimed the lead with a home run in the bottom half of the inning and DeSales was unable to find the tying run over the final two innings.
SeniorÂ
Heather Hall took the loss allowing three earned runs over six innings, striking out one.
Game Two (W/11-10 vs. Hood)
The Bulldogs took a 7-0 lead over the first two innings before Hood rallied with four runs in the third and fourth innings and another in the fifth to take a 9-7 lead.
DeSales rallied with four runs in the bottom of the fifth including a big two-out two-RBI double from juniorÂ
Kayleigh Ferraro to reclaim an 11-9 lead and Hall earned a save getting the final five outs, striking out one.
First-YearÂ
Rachel Lowry got the win pitching 1 1/3 innings allowing just one run.
JuniorÂ
Lily Trexler went 2-for-4 with two runs and two RBIs, seniorÂ
Reilly Kerr had three hits and scored twice, and first-yearÂ
Kristen Suran had two hits.
The Bulldogs return to action tomorrow taking on Salisbury University two more times.
