Harrisonburg, VA (February 20, 2022) - The DeSales University baseball team scored four runs in the top of the 10th inning to finish its weekend trip with a 7-4 win over Eastern Mennonite University on Sunday afternoon.
DSU took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first inning when seniorÂ
Billy Scanlon ripped a solo home run. The lead grew to 3-0 in the top of the third after an RBI single from seniorÂ
Trevor Leamer and a sacrifice fly from seniorÂ
Dillon Drew.
EMU got two runs back in the bottom of the third inning and that score remained into the bottom of the ninth inning.
Eastern Mennonite rallied to tie the game at three sending the game into extra innings where the Bulldogs took advantage of two walks, a hit batter, and an error, capped off by a two-RBI single from Scanlon to plate four runs and EMU went in order on the bottom half of the inning.
Scanlon finished 3-for-6 with three RBIs, Leamer had two hits and two RBIs, and first-yearÂ
Gabe Diaz scored twice.

Ian Kacergis who struck out eight in 5 1/3 innings pitched. SeniorÂ
JJ Paul got the win and juniorÂ
Michael Pierce pitched a 1-2-3 tenth inning to preserve the victory.
The Bulldogs are back in action next weekend when they travel to North Carolina for three games over Saturday and Sunday.
