Reading, PA (February 23, 2022) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team opened its 2022 season with a 15-12 loss at Alvernia University on Wednesday afternoon.

The Basics

How it Happened

• The Bulldogs controlled play early taking a 4-2 lead early and led by by two (5-3) after one quarter.
• DSU scored the first goal of the second quarter to lead 6-3 before Alvernia rattled off five straight goals to claim an 8-6 advantage at the half.
• DeSales scored the first goal of the third quarter to pull within one but four straight goals from the Golden Wolves put the hosts up 12-7.
• DSU closed the third quarter with two straight goals and were within three early in the fourth quarter but AU put it away with two straight tallies, the last coming at the 4:21 mark, before the final tally was posted.

Top Bulldog Performers

• Junior Dani Towey, first-year Meagan Landers, and first-year Kyleigh Price each had three goals in the loss.
• First-year Jess Brey, junior Marina Bradley, and sophomore Hayley Petrosini all had one goal and one assist.
• Junior Tess Rodgers added an assist.
• First-year Michaela Regan finished with nine saves in goal.

For the Foes

• Haleigh Lackner had a game-high six goals to lead Alvernia.
• Erika Whitmoyer finished with two goals and three assists.
• Kasey Fox had 11 saves in goal and Meagan Moky had seven draw controls.

Inside the Box Score

• Alvernia out-shot DeSales, 35-27, and each team had 21 ground balls.
• AU won 17 draw controls and both teams had 19 turnovers.
