Women's Lacrosse Wins Home Opener, 8-7, over Juniata

Center Valley, PA (February 26, 2022) - The DeSales University women's lacrosse team scored four straight goals to end the third and start the fourth quarter in an 8-7 win over Juniata College in the 2022 season home opener on Saturday afternoon.

How it Happened
  • These two teams traded goals for the first 38 minutes of this game as Juniata took its fifth one goal lead of the afternoon at the 7:22 mark of the third quarter, 5-4.
  • First-year Meagan Landers tied the game at five and started a run of four straight goals by the Bulldogs giving them an 8-5 lead at the 4:43 mark of the fourth quarter.
  • DSU then held off a furious rally with under a minute left in the game as Juniata scored twice in 26 seconds to pull within one but junior Marina Bradley was able to secure the finla draw control and run out the clock.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Landers finished with a team-high three goals to lead the scoring.
  • Junior Marina Bradley and junior Tess Rodgers each had two goals and an assist in the win and each had six ground balls, while Bradley picked up five draw controls.  Rodgers also added four caused turnovers.
  • Sophomore Hayley Petrosini added the other goal.
  • First-year Michaela Regan finished with seven saves and four ground balls in goal.
For the Foes
  • Grace Gibbs led all scorers with four goals.
  • Peyton Goodrich had two goals and an assist.
  • Gibbs also added 10 ground balls, four draw controls, and four caused turnovers.
  • Chloe Gerhard had 11 saves in goal.
Inside the Box Score
  • Both teams took 23 shots on the afternoon and Juniata had a slim 31-30 advantage in ground balls.
  • Each team won nine draw controls and DeSales forced 24 Eagle turnovers.
