Women's Basketball Wins 14th Straight; Ties Home Court Win Streak

Center Valley, PA (February 5, 2022) - The DeSales University women's basketball team won its 14th straight game running past FDU-Florham 81-44, tying the consecutive wins mark at home in MAC Freedom action on Saturday afternoon in Billera Hall.

The Basics
  • Final Score: DeSales - 81, FDU-Florham - 44
  • Records: DeSales (15-3, 13-0 MAC Freedom); FDU-Florham (2-15, 1-11 MAC Freedom)
  • DeSales has now won seven straight over the Devils and improve to 41-16 all-time in the series.
  • The Bulldogs have now won 14 straight on the season and it is DSU's 23rd straight win at home, tying the all-time record for consecutive wins at home.
  • DeSales is now an incredible 46-1 in its last 47 games at home.
  • DeSales maintains its two-game lead for earning the top seed in the MAC Freedom postseason tournament over Stevens with three games to play.
How it Happened
  • The Bulldogs struggled in the first quarter to shoot the ball hitting just 27.3 percent over the first 10 minutes but forced FDU into just 26.7 percent to lead by eight after one quarter.
  • DeSales hit 62.5 percent in the second quarter, using a 25-5 run over the first 6:30 of the second quarter and cruised into the locker room to lead 45-22 at the break.
  • The advantage grew to 39 points in the third quarter and peaked at 40 a couple of times in the fourth before the final tally was posted.
Top Bulldog Performers
  • Five players were in double digits led by junior Megan Bealer with 13 points.
  • Senior Averi Jordan added 11 points and eight boards.
  • Sophomore Mikaela Reese finished with 11 points, six rebounds, a career-high seven assists, three steals, and three blocks.
  • First-year Kelsey Gemmill had a season-high 11 points off the bench and added four helpers and five steals.
  • Sophomore Lindsey Welsh had 10 points, nine rebounds, and six assists.
For the Foes
  • Angela Downey was the only double digit scorer for the Devils finishing with 12 points.
  • Cassidy Miller had seven points and a game-high 13 rebounds.
Inside the Box Score
  • The Bulldogs finished the game shooting 41.4 percent and held the Devils to just 28.6 percent from the field.
  • DSU controlled the glass out-rebounding, FDU, 52-38, and scored 21 second chance points.
